Before I Could Walk

Before I Could Walk is a beat tape I made using some of my earlier beats. I kept the same mixing style I use for tapes I make the fellas, mostly samples I would trigger off-time and badly recorded audio of different environments I find myself in when I'd be creating my Majik,i.e TV, Radio ect. The swing spectrum in this beat tape is mostly from the 50s percentile at 1/8 counts to the high 60s percentile at 1/16 count. I now find that the drums I used wont so natural sounding mainly because they were recorded for drum libraries. It was through this process that I began understanding the importance of having my beats completely sampled from records. In addition the grit or crunch I was trying to give my drums was difficult because the sound processors I was using tended to soften the sound and lacked resonance which would arch the wave form to make it sound hollow. At one point in this beat tape I use the beat I made when I had discovered this. The Akai S950 accented the resonance perfectly and naturally through its lo-pass filter at 12bit. Finally, I'll regrettably add that the rendering of this beat tape is kinda shitty (for lack of a better expression). This isn't something I have accidentally overlooked but in the end, I don't sell music and I feel I should just share and not procrastinate. So feel free to pass it around but like always, respect and show support. Salu Alonso Majikal
